About The Black Book
The "thrilling" #1 New York Times and USA Today bestseller (Karin Slaughter): when three bodies are found in a Chicago bedroom, a black book goes missing . . . and the city has never been more dangerous.
Billy Harney was born to be a cop. As the son of Chicago's chief of detectives with a twin sister on the force, Billy plays it by the book. Teaming up with his adrenaline-junkie partner, Detective Kate Fenton, there's nothing he wouldn't sacrifice for his job. Enter Amy Lentini, a hard-charging assistant attorney hell-bent on making a name for herself who suspects Billy isn't the cop he claims to be. They're about to be linked by more than their careers.
A horrifying murder leads investigators to an unexpected address-an exclusive brothel that caters to Chicago's most powerful citizens. There's plenty of incriminating evidence on the scene, but what matters most is what's missing: the madam's black book. Now with shock waves rippling through the city's elite, everyone's desperate to find it.
As Chicago's elite scramble to get their hands on the elusive black book, no one's motives can be trusted. An ingenious, inventive thriller about power, corruption, and the secrets that can destroy a city, The Black Book is James Patterson at his page-turning best.
Great book! Kept me guessing until the end!
I could not put this book down. It’s 2:09 am and I just finished it. I need sleep!
Could have been a good if not for constant use of the F word. Garbage . I quit reading!
Fast paced, intriguing and the “Past/Present” flashes are weaved in very well. Never saw the ending coming but that is the sign of a good story. Well done, gentlemen. We can always count on James Patterson to give us a great read.
This book is awesome really, the events were unexpected and mysterious completely, it attracts the reader and it makes the reader feel as he/ she lives within the events.
This is one of the best books that Patterson and co-author of the week has written. Great read. You will enjoy this one.
5/5 stars. Very entertaining. Interesting plot, characters and story telling angle. Several unexpected twists. I have read ALOT of mystery crime novels and rarely give out 5 stars. Hal
Thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is well written, has a great steady pace of thrill, and keeps you guessing. I was constantly looking for more precious time to read it longer but savoring it was just as satisfying. I hope to find another Patterson book with the same reward for my time as he has always been a favorite of mine.
This book kept me guessing up until the end. Just when you thought you knew “who done it” it proved you wrong.
Invisible, The Murder House, and now The Black Book. Whenever David Ellis writes for James, the novels are always so much more better than your average Patterson branded book. I highly recommend it.
I kept guessing the ending and I was wrong. Great read!!!!
Great book! Exciting with lots of curve balls! Loved it!
Could not put this book down!!! One of the best he’s ever written!!

First book I've read where I actually giggled out loud because of the jokes made by the characters in this book!
This book was hard to put down. I read it in 4 days when I had many other things to do. Great story with a twist in the end
I finished reading this book in 28 hours! I literally had my husband take over a wife/mother's responsibility because I was so engrossed reading this book. Could not put it down. It's the best book I've read thus far by Patterson. A must have!!
Nice plot and well written.
This was your best novel by far and I have read them all.Thank you .
Absolutely sick. Last Paterson book I will read.
I think this is the best most thrilling book James Patterson has written. Well done.
Couldn't put this one down. I thought it was well written and kept my interest all the way through.
Wow. Im guessing that I have read more Fiction Mystery Books than most people. With that in mind, I have to say that "The Black Book" is in the Top 3 if not the best book I've read. Thank you James Patterson, Thank you!!! It goes without saying there aren't enough stars to show how highly I feel about this work & how strongly I recommend it.
Everything has to fall into place to make this plot work. It crosses and recrosses time switching from past to present with convenient memory lapses by the protagonists. Lots of characters but most of them just a cardboard facade (or two). At the end, most of the villains punished but one cared little about them or the protagonist. Save yourself the money and time.
Awesome read! Couldn't put it down and is Definitely a page turner. Never saw the plot twist coming. Another awesome book from one of my favorite authors.
I have every one of James Patterson's books and this is by far one of, if not the best of them all. Such a great read!!!
I've been reading James Patterson books forever and I think this book is one of, if not, the best I have read. Read thru the night and couldn't put down until I finished. I thought I knew how it ended and was so wrong. Loved it.
