About A Court of Thorns and Roses
The sexy, action-packed first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Court of Thorns and Roses series from Sarah J. Maas.
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.
At least, he's not a beast all the time.
As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin-and his world-forever.
From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable read.
It's absolutely amazing.
I just finished book three in the four book series and im coming back to wrote a review of this one to tell you READ THIS BOOK the characters and their developments are amazing and the plot is fantastic and it keeps you on your toes at every sentence. This series has become my new favorite without even a shred of competition.
Absolutely loved this book, loved the plot. I'm a sucker for enemies to lover romances and would recommend this to any friend.
This book was absolutely amazing so much so that I finished it rather quickly and considered revisiting it I. Am. Hooked. Amazing author I promise you won’t regret this purchase
Such a great book!!!
The story was decent. The characters and some situations were plucked out of other series, such as Hunger Games, Twilight, and Harry Potter, to name a few. However, the BIGGEST offense is what and how much was stolen from Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series: Daemon SaDi and Dorothea SaDiablo basically showed up in this book with new names of Rhysand and Amaranth. I could go on with pages of other examples. I'm very surprised I havent read this type of feedback in the other comments, unless those were suppressed.
Loved the intrigue, story development, and characters. Yet I couldn’t shake the similarities to ‘Beauty and the Beast’. It was just too much of a coincidence to ignore, yet I read it chapter by chapter...and enjoyed it regardless.
Fae have always been my favorite kind of fantasy creature, and yet I feel like no one ever makes stories about them. Sarah J Maas must have the same love of fae/fairies as I do! This series has become my favorite fantasy series out of all the ones I’ve read. I love the characters, I love Maas’s writing, and I love how she brings some bits of classic fables into this series. There’s also steamy romance, though the second book in this series has the best romance scenes. I also read her Throne of Glass series, but I like this one better.
Excellent read! I connected to every character and wasn't able to put this book down!
I’m surprised at how unskilled the writing is here, given Maas’s popularity. I’ve read indie fantasy authors with much better writing chops. The sentences are clunky, and loose; the descriptions mediocre, and the protagonist is very 2D. It reads like something a talented 10th grader might have come up with. That said, the story is amusing. I purchased all books at once on discount and hope I can get through them. But so far, the first one is difficult to keep reading.
This series is a must read - I got so invested in the love and heartbreak that runs throughout the series. It made me cry, it made me laugh, and it made me swoon on so many levels. So many feels. Highly recommend
I held off reading this book for months, I didn’t really know if I would like it from other reviews I had read. I was wrong!!!! Once I started reading I couldn’t not put it down. Read it in one day.
Truthfully, I had just come down off a FBAA/AKOFAF hangover but needed more. I had been seeing this series everywhere and just took my time looking at different reviews and the most consistent one I read was that the first book was slow. While I admit it is slow, the reason for it is to set up the story, the setting, everything. It’s a beautiful kind of slow that enchants your mind and makes you want to know more. Maas writes in a way that tells you exactly what she sees when she created this universe of high lords, faeries, and mortals. I loved this book and I’m so excited to read the next few.
I haven’t finished a book this quickly in a long time!
This was the most beautiful and charming escape...I got lost in these pages and didn’t want to leave. If you’re looking for a book that is impossible to put down - this is it.
It started well enough but stalled somehow in the middle so much so that I became bored and considered not finishing. The end did pick up again and became somewhat exciting but the pace of this book is not as her other series
A Court of Thorns and Roses is a truly amazing story. I absolutely love the tragic ending that makes you want more every time! I have read it twice and I cannot get over how amazing it is. The intricate details through out, the story line too!
Such a page turner. Interesting world she developed.
Stunning!!! Everything about this book (and series in general) is utterly enthralling and absolutely gorgeous. Spent a week devouring the first four books and each book was better than the last. Truly magical and I cannot wait to read about Nesta and Cassain. Highly, highly recommend!!!
I’ll admit, I bought the book a little dull up until the end. However, it was interesting to see how certain things from the beginning and middle of the book, played such an important role in the ending. The thing I loved most were the character arcs. Even smaller, more insignificant characters evolved in some way banded on circumstance and experience. The author did a good job of building characters you can fall in love with and relate to in some way.
I just came here to say I didn’t like this book much. Almost stopped midway through but made it to the end and thought it was interesting enough to pursue the second.. and thank god!! I loved the second one wow. It was so refreshing and I don’t want to spoil it here but if you can make it through this one DEFINITELY keep going with the series you won’t regret!
This book was a little boring for me since I wanted to see more of Rhysand, but I know I’ll see him in the next books and I’ll definitely be liking those and giving them 5 stars.
I love these books! The book starts off slowly because she has to explain the history of prythian and Feyre, but a little less than halfway through it is impossible to put down. It is the perfect YA novel. I’m curious to see what happens in ACOMAF. So many twists and turns. Love it !
Honestly out of words on how much I love this series. The characters development and the plot itself is out of this world. Literally. love it too much to stop ever thinking about it :(
I started and stopped this book multiple times before finishing it. The first half of the book was difficult to get through because it felt like there was no plot…no end game. I had no clue where the story was going and got sick of it. I finally talked to to some other fans of the series and they reassured me that it got better and to keep going. I’m glad I listened. The last part of the book was mind blowing. The second book is wonderful too.
It was really good I read it in a day.
This should be considered a Young Adult series
I loved this series! The characters and their relationships are deep and intriguing. I read all 4 books in the series (currently) in 4 days, and can’t wait for the next installment!
Adolescent thought personified. After 9 chapters I put it down ... the main character feels tragically wronged by every other character but no real reason is given. I’m eager to meet an author halfway to “suspend disbelief” and enmesh myself in the tapestry of their story, but the author never gave me any purchase in her world.
Honestly I was in a total reading slump before this book. I never really read fantasy but this book opened up my love for a whole new genre. Overall it was absolutely amazing. Maas builds the plot and there’s not obvious foreshadowing and it legitimately makes you gasp when it unravels. All her books hit there mark and a court of thorns and roses is no exception. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I highly recommend any of her works especially this one.
I just finished this book so I’m still in that twilight-zone between stunned awe and a voracious need to devour the next book. I burned through this book quickly, absolutely couldn’t put it down, practically every chapter was a cliff-hanger making me want more. I can’t believe how easily this author builds and maintains suspense, I absolutely don’t mean the writing is simple by any measure but it’s so concise. I never felt bored in the middle of a paragraph or the need to glaze over the ‘character’s mind wandering’ that inadvertently works its way into every book. Amazing. Loved it. Happily addicted.
i had heard people recommending this so i had to read it, and i like it v much. the more explicit parts weren’t written in a trashy way, and the book itself is really pretty.
I fell in love.. I’m still waiting on the 5th book
Be careful if you are a younger reader if not go for it it’s really good
This series is my favorite in the whole world. this book and series is MUST READ. im telling you, you will fall in love with this booka nd the series and will not be disappointed.
Honestly favorite book series of all time everything she writes is spectacular and never ceases to amaze me
I’d never read her books before, but wow she’s extremely detail oriented, and does an amazing job of immersing the reader into the story. A lot of fantasy novels are poorly written, but she has such a beautiful way with words!
Literally the best book on earth
OH MY GOODNESS. Okay listen, I was really on the fence about reading this series because of the reviews on Goodreads and all, but man oh man. A lot of people reference this book to Beauty and the Beast and I get that, but it’s so much more. This book is a about a lonely beauty who falls into the hands of this beast, breaks his curse, and reveals another beast entirely. I have read the series so the lines between the books are blurred for me now, but what Feyre discovers after breaking the curse is truly incredible. The writing is amazing and unbelievably detailed, so settle down and get cozy when reading! I love the details SJM pours into these books, the character development, and the imagery. I also love the little sneaky parts of foreshadowing throughout the series as well!! She truly made me feel like I was in the story and forgot the real world around me. Please enjoy reading the series yourself!
Loved this series
