Everything I hoped for!!!
Loved it. Would really like each book like this. And a book about all the cullens back stories
A great read. Didn’t want to finish it too quickly. :) Loved it thank you..... here is hoping you will continue Edwards journey for us through all the books in the saga. No pressure, but please ?
Was so excited to hear Edward’s side, and of course she did not disappoint!
This was a good read! I loved the books from the start and I enjoyed reading from Edwards POV. It helped fill in some holes. It also made me want to read all the other books from his point of view
Doesn’t follow the first books very much, very confusing
Was waiting for this book since it leaked, glad i was able to support her and hopefully help her get started on the next installment
Edward has an incredibly fresh perspective on the Twilight story. Lots of new backstory. I do wish Ms. Meyer had included a conversation between Edward and Alice about her visions of her future revelations about her human life. He mentioned wanting this conversation but it never happened on paper. Though I would never deny more from this story that was the one thing I felt like was forgotten.
Love it just as much as I loved twilight when I first read it 10 years ago!!!
I have always been team Edward and now reading this made me even more. Loved the Edward view of meeting Bella and falling in love with her !
This is the absolute worst book I have ever read and I’ve read thousands of books. It was a very poor attempt at showing the same story from another point of view. I loved the first 3 books. This was beyond terrible. I am sorry I wasted my time on it.
Midnight Sun was my second favorite book of the Twilight saga after Eclipse. The deep, hidden recesses of Edward’s mind were a wonder to behold. So many interactions between his family members, brooding soliloquies, and the thoughts of those in the world of Twilight are present. Edward is initially entirely averse to Bella. That quickly turns to intrigue, fascination, amusement, and love. One of the things that Edward realizes the more time that he spends with Bella is that she sees, hears, and understands him for all that he is- even the parts that cause him to feel shame. Bella has an authenticity to her that Edward can perceive without hearing her thoughts. Up until the tendrils of a long lost hope of love reach Edward’s frozen heart, he feels incredibly sure that he is innately evil, bad, and an abomination. He doesn’t believe think that he is even deserving of love, much less having a chance at it. Edward feels such horror for what he is. When Bella tells him just how beautiful, good, and worthy of love he is, Edward seems to allow short periods of fantasy to lift his spirits. During this time, he is sincerely happy and hopeful. Unfortunately, Edward has frequent bouts of allowing his cynical, hopeless thoughts to take over. This sentiment comes back full force at the end. The last two chapters are the saddest chapters of the Twilight saga I have read. It’s full of dread (already knowing the outcome of Edward’s intensifying will), and a deeper knowledge of Edward’s departure that seemingly never reached Bella. I think that in New Moon, Bella’s main feeling was caused by the forcible removal of Edward from her life. She felt empty, emotionless (when conscious), and confused (if not shocked). I think we all know that Edward could have never truly told Bella why he left. Nevertheless, it’s driven home for us at the end of Midnight Sun. When reading and watching through Twilight (and the beginning and mid-section of New Moon), Edward’s sentiments are not so clear. The end of MS adds an element of revulsion (of self), deep sadness, and self sacrifice that wasn’t present in Twilight. Midnight Sun gives such insight into Edward’s mind and the constant conflict that he is having (between wanting Bella and wanting to keep her safe). I really appreciate MS more than Twilight itself (even though it is the book that started the whole saga). Bella was the person to pull Edward out from his eternally empty reverie of just existing. Bella saw herself as completely unremarkable, fading into the background. Obviously, Edward views her as the opposite. There are some beautiful passages that give life to what Edward thought about Bella. The events take longer in Midnight Sun compared to Twilight, in my opinion. The specific events of Twilight take a backseat in MS. Instead, Edward’s thoughts are front and center. By virtue of reading into Edward’s mind, we are able to take a look into the motivating thoughts of others. Twilight is the missing piece in that narrative (with Bella’s perspective). The cover image is perfectly selected. Each of the many times “the pomegranate” is mentioned, it draws a well-depicted narrative of its deeper meaning. Bella was the catalyst for warmth, life, and love for Edward, his Midnight Sun.
Like the others I could not put this book down! I need more ❤️
Midnight sun was amazingly well put together and brought to life aspects of the story that as a reader I wondered how they were experienced from the characters point of view. The book gave new perspective and story to the original plot without explicitly changing the it. I also enjoyed seeing the complexity of how Alice has to change small details to adjust the future to her liking. I can never get enough of these books and can’t wait to see what the author plans to create next.
It was cool to see Edwards POV towards things. Wish there was another coming out!
i’ve loved this series ever since i was little. this book was a wonderful continuation of this world that i’ve grown to love so much. truly wonderful.
So happy to have so much more of this world!
I really enjoyed reading this book and really recommend it. It was really informative and exciting to see the story from Edward’s point of view.
Amazing! I hope she does the rest in his perspective as well. It would be cool to see the next one with his and Alice’s perspective split. It’s odd to me people didn’t like it, saying how it’s the same thing as the first book. Like duh. That’s what it is, just from Edward’s POV. You get to read more about his family too which is perfect and any die hard fan’s dream.
I have read it twice already!! So worth it!
This book was really good I would recommend to anyone of you like the other four books you will like this.
There’s no words to express how much I love this book and how much my selfish self needs more.
I’ve heard nothing but good about this book. I plan on reading it after I’ve finished the four Twilight books. I literally just finished Mew Moon maybe an hour ago. Can’t wait!
Better than the whole twilight series combined. Absolutely amazing and perfect in every way.
Definitely worth the wait. I hope more is written soon!
I loved it, i enjoyed getting to see a new perspective from the story. Especially how Edward could read people’s minds. I found it very fascinating I truly recommend it.
I would read every single book written from Edwards perspective. I would love to see how his thoughts are during the time he is away from Bella. And again when he returns and Jacob has been her rock the entire time. I would love to see Stephanie write all these books that way. So very engaging.
I love twilight since I was ten years old and I love Edward and I love how this book is and I felt in love with the vampire again and also love the movie to and I also will be team Edward for life
This book definitely fits the character of Edward. It explains a few more details of the dynamic between the family. I just wish there was more history of the main guy.... Edward. Of course the story of the love him and Bella share. Though I’ve always been Team Jacob (even before the casting of Taylor 😜) I have no doubts about being Team Jacob now. Blame my past experiences.... but yea. Lol. Thank you Stephanie for following through with this novel. I’ve been waiting for what seems like an eternity!! Lol. Well done. Hopefully more?? 🙏🙌🏻
This is exactly what i have been waiting for. I can only hope there will be more in the future but if not this is enough for me i love this series
Where to start! I’m 76% done with this book and I really want to just not finish it, but I’m not a quitter! Plus I’m loyal! I LOVED the first 4 books! Not the movies, but the books! However THIS BOOK! “SHOCK FACE” I read the portion that got leaked a few years back and was so excited. I really enjoyed it! But THIS?? I don’t find THAT in this! We think we want to hear Edwards thoughts but that must have been in theory! This portrayal of Edward makes him LAME and pathetic! He goes ON AND ON AND ON about NOTHING! I finally just started skipping through which is a bummer because I’m sure I probably missed SOMETHING good in there as I was skipping! But I just can’t do his endless self abasement and over thinking, page after page after page! It’s as if because we wanted to hear “some of his thoughts” they got shoved down our throats and now we’re gaging into them! I’m sorry to be so harsh, but I was THRILLED when I found out the book was coming out and so let down at this point. Edward is no longer sexy he’s pathetic! Please fix him in New Moon! And while you’re at it, please redo the movies! I know I sound like I’m just a hater, genuinely I’m not! I love the books, have read them several times and though I don’t like what the directors did with the movies, I have watched them more than once even recently because they hold a place in my heart!
This book totally took me back to the first meeting of Edward and Bella. It was exciting to revisit all the memories but from Edwards perspective. I fell in love with the vampire all over again.
Better than Bella.
Thank you Stephanie for finishing this. I was furious when you were betrayed and hurt. I waited until you had decided not to contribute and you released your unedited version to read the beginning all those years ago and it was my now 14 year old daughter who told me that this was coming. (She has read my copies of the saga recently). Like the others, I could not put it down for long, great job! Cori in Waco, TX
Great insight into the characters!
This was an amazing book. It was well worth the wait. Thank you Stephenie for sharing your amazing talent. I loved jumping back into the world of Vampires.
When I first began to read the Twilight saga I was 12 years old. Now of course my adolescent-self did not realize how strange the romantic realtionship between an introverted 17 year old girl and a 108 year old self-loathing killer was, but the gloomy love story always intrigued me and most likely shaped my developing style throughout my teenage years. Even though I knew the story I still found myself rapidly consuming this book. Can Edwards self-hatred get tiresome? Yes. Are a considerable amount of his actions argueably creepy and obsessive? Yes. Do Bella and Edward dive into this romantic relationship at a rate that comes off as immature? Yes. But all in all, if you look at these characters as teenagers experiencing first love the actions seem to be less off-putting and more endearing. Not to mention how this book allows the reader to mindread with Edward which I thought was pretty cool. So, if you grew up reading the twilight saga and some part of your childhood self still loves the world Stephenie Meyer created, I’d say you’d most likely enjoy this book. Even though the chances of more books in Edward's perspective are slim, I would love to see them!
I’ve gotta say, I didn’t expect this book to be good. I didn’t think that anymore could be added to the Twilight series without just being a run-on, but this book answered so many questions. Plus, all the times you wondered “what is Edward thinking?”, now you know. I hope that she does this for the rest of the series, and no offense to any hard-core Bella fans, but I liked Edwards story better. I felt it was more thought out, and that we really felt just how much pain Edward was in every day. This book definitely was a good purchase, and an even better read.
Edward has a fast-paced mind. His world is action-packed and suspenseful while he manages to keep a human pace for Bella.
i love this book so much i dont even have words.
Great. I enjoyed hearing Edward’s side of this story so much. Now I hope she does the rest of the twilight series. 😍😍😍
The book was good. I’ve always wanted to know Edwards thoughts. I feel like we learned more hearing both sides of the story. My only criticism is that his thoughts often lead to very long drawn out stories. Some are useful for the storyline — some not so much in this moment
I love this book. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. I really hope there are more sequels from edwards view to go along side the rest of the twilight series.
There weren’t any revelations that made this book necessary for the series. Not to mention the way Meyer depicts the quileute tribe as less than desirable to say the least. I don’t know.. I’m sure I’m too old to be reading this as a 25 year old but considering I was 13 the first time around, I felt compelled to pick it up for nostalgia purposes. Some things didn’t make sense as well and felt like a bit of a stretch, like edward would feel a certain way but say the total opposite as it was necessary to keep the dialogue the same as twilight. I wish I hadn’t spent $15 on a book I have no interest in finishing even though I’m 77% complete.
Thank you Stephenie Meyer.
I was hesitant because I thought “well it’s the same book, so how great can that be?”. It was AWESOME! Made me see Twilight so differently. It answered a lot of questions I had about why/how some things went down the way the did, and many moments of “what the heck was Edward thinking?!”. And it made some seemingly innocent moments seem almost horrifying when seen through Edwards eyes. Overall glad I bought it and truly would LOVE New Moon from Edwards POV!
I’ve looked forward to reading this for many years. I was not disappointed. However, it’s made me want to read more of Edwards point of view for the next three Twilight books in the series. :)
I found this book to drag. I read all of the twilight books in one month. I could not put them down. This one didn’t have that hold on me.
