Trust Laramie Briscoe to provide engaging characters in a well-built world I want to revisit again and again. Carly Phillips, NY Times bestselling author.
Moving to Laurel Springs and joining the LSERT was the best spur-of-the-moment decision I ever made. Here, out from under the expectations of my Police Chief father, I’m thriving.
I’ve found a boldness and confidence I never had in Paradise Lost.
And a woman who I can’t stop thinking about, dreaming about, and can’t seem to stay away from. Attorney Shelby Bruce knocked me for a loop and my head hasn’t stopped spinning since the night of our ‘friendmas’ Christmas party.
When there’s a physical threat to her well-being, I won’t stop at anything to protect her, even if it means losing a piece of myself in the process.
Houston was my home until the big city reached out and bit me. Laurel Springs is more my speed, and I’ve settled into life here.
A new friend group, building my practice from the ground up, and a smoking hot new love interest has my life extremely busy and full. I’m content. More content than I ever was in my old life.
That all changes when I revise a will for one of the pillars of the Laurel Springs community. Effectively, she cuts her grandson out of her fortune. When he finds out it’s not pretty.
Worse. He blames me.
But something amazing happens. Day by day, I realize the relationships I’ve built within the community and the LSERT are stronger than I ever imagined. Especially when Sullivan Baker saves not only my life, but my heart.
Give me all the LSERT stories! I have found that I really enjoy all of Laramie’s books, but I genuinely love the LSERT series because of the ties it has to her other books. This book focuses on Sullivan and Shelby. We meet Sullivan in the last book where he decides to follow his sister and move as a way to start over his life after a devastating blow from his love life. Shelby has recently relocated to town as a way to start over in her career after a particularly horrible case that didn’t end well on all sides. Looking for a slower pace of life, she relocates to town and for months her and Sullivan have flirted around their feelings and finally things start to happen with them. I loved this couple! They were so adorable together and I loved how they not only worked through things together but were also so protective of the other one no matter who it was towards. While the suspense aspect of the story was pretty predictable, I didn’t mind because Laramie’s style of writing really makes it worth it! I can’t wait to see what comes next from the LSERT team and I can’t wait for Laramie’s next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I really like this series and Laramie’s writing overall!! Excited to read the next one! I made the mistake of not noting the errors in editing, I feel there were several but it didn’t in any way take away from the story.
This was such a good read! Sully and Shelby were definitely made for each other. With everything thrown at them, they learn to conquer it with the help of each other and there new found family in the town. I love how everyone comes together to help. I love how everyone is still there making you smiling through out the book!!!!
This book had me gasping out loud during the gripping moments but I also laughed so hard when Whitney and Leigh were in a bidding war at the auction. It is not easy for Sullivan and Shelby to trust because they trusted the wrong people in the past. The smoking hot chemistry between these two was phenomenal to read and so well written. This book has so many levels that take you through their journey of being strong, determination, protection and letting down your guard to someone you can finally trust. Sullivan is the type of man who will do anything for those he loves especially his little sister which included dress shopping. Shelby believes in helping her community and providing the best attorney service to those she represents.
