About A Court of Silver Flames
Sarah J. Maas's sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta.
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.
The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.
Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.
Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.
I generally didn’t like Nesta.... until I read this book! Plot is great and the writing is amazing. Best book in the series!
To the strong females out there with mad masculine energy! This story will have u relating and enjoying the story come full circle. I’m curious if Elaine story will be the last. I love the fantasy dynamic elements that keep me guessing and I love these well rounded characters.
😭😭😭 finished the book too fast! A great book with a good enough ending to keep me satisfied while Ms. Maas Makes the next book of the series!
More sex than plot in this one. An okay read, but pales in comparison to the trilogy.
I have loved the throne series and thought I was done with the fourth book when I discovered this one was available. From beginning to end I couldn’t put it down. The character development of Nesta, from the hard exterior to the complex interior, was a joy to read. How many of us have acted in a way that’s so hard to understand, or judged others for their actions without truly being able to see into their minds and hearts? To see her Evolution was truly a treasured reading experience. Hopefully there is yet one more book in the series as we have a few wrapups needed like Eris, Tamlen. Elain, Koschei, Azriel and Mor. Fingers crossed!
Thats It, that’s the tweet. Read this book, preferably not around your parents 😈.p
So exciting to actually see a sci-fi/fantasy book at the #1 position on the NY Times bestsellers list. Great series.
My favorite out of all of her books so far.
Yall, my favorite chapter form ACOMAF was the deleted Nessian scene so this book was just perfect. Nesta is such a queen and Cassian is so supportive. I love them so much.
She became my favorite writer! The book is full of plot twist and well constructed. It’s amazing to be able to read something with exact dosage of love, hot scenes, description, fight, intelligence... my first language is Portuguese and I couldn’t wait to it be published in my language lol I had to read in English and thank God I was able to read it like that. Sorry for my Brazilian friends that will have to wait for it and sorry for myself to have to hold my emotions too it will be hard to not give them spoilers. Super recommend!
I was never a fan of Nesta, and was not looking forward to this book....but wow was I wrong. Nesta’s character won me over. This may just be my favorite book of the series.
She did it again. Every book amazes me at how well it’s written. I’m so in love with all these characters. I can’t wait for the next book!
I really did enjoy this book more than I expected. I never was a huge fan of how cold Nesta was and I knew this book would bring more light to her character. I found the character development believable. Worth picking up!
This whole series has been so wonderful I have read day and night and hate for it to be over !
I hated to finish all of these books (I’ve read all 5 of them). They are the kind of books where you can’t wait to see how they end, but don’t want them to end because then they are over. It’s been a long time since I have been this enchanted with a series, and if there are never any more I will be extremely sad. Great characters, wonderful plotting and kept my interest to the very end. Hated to see them end. Please add more to this series.susna3068
This is just what we needed after a long dry spell from this series. I hope there are more to come as this series like the Throne of Glass series is way to exciting to end here. Also you must read her new book House of Earth and Blood. Just as marvelous to read. She is a wonder with a gift of words.
This book has ruined all books I will read for the rest of the year. Probably even longer. After ACOTAR 1-4, I found “ok” books to pass the time. BUT THIS ONE!!! I loved it!!!
I was reluctant to read this book, I didn’t really like Nesta from the other books and really didn’t see reason to read a whole book solely about her. However, I really enjoyed the whole story. Although it was slow in the beginning and some parts seemed redundant, I think this was the perfect story to redeem nesta in my eyes and really enjoy her as a character.
i honestly loved the book once i got to around chapter 15. it took a little while for me to get into but once i did i was hooked and couldn’t put it down. the extra smutty stuff fit well considering that nesta is very much into the idea of sex all the time. i loved how she blossomed and how cassian was always there for her. they have a special relationship that is amazing and beautiful. the book was very well written and amazing, can’t wait for the next! <3
This book was my least fave of the series, but I am not surprised since Nesta has always been the character I liked the least. Her and Cassian’s relationship left me wanting more emotionally. Her character development went way to slow... like I maybe possibly liked her a little bit in the final 100 pages... but, really only for how she helped the other characters in the end. Either way, I still love this series and am excited to see who the rest of the books will be about. Mor, Az, Elain, Eris, Lucien, Tamlin even? I’m far more interested in their stories than anything related to Nesta; although honestly I’d be content with every book being about Rhys and Feyre.
Okay. Hear me out...i am in love with this book/series. I’ve read her Throne of glass series as well(which i HIGHLY) recommend. Can’t wait for the next one!
I honestly enjoyed Nesta’s and Cassian’s story and would have totally been happy with just their journey. This book was exceptionally smutty and profane where the previous books had more tactful language and romance, it was reminiscent of Crescent City writing style. The plot line with the queen and Koshei did not really add value to this novel, it honestly felt really cliché and anticlimactic.
I read this because I liked Cassian’s character and wanted to see what Maas would do with his and Nesta’s story. It was strangely slow in places and there was way more meaningless sex scenes than there needed to be. Took a long time to even get to a point where I was rooting for Nesta to get over herself. Ended up feeling like Maas put too much effort into reshowing us how terrible Nesta could be when we already knew it. And it took way too long to bring her redemption around. Also, in 8 months she went from zero training to being better than Illyrian warriors without any powers? That was a little hard to believe. I liked where the story went, just got there in a weird way and I could have done without the needlessly graphic sex scenes. There’s a balance she struck in Feyre’s books of being sexy without it being too much but she definitely went WAY past that line here.
I loved the other books in this series but this one was so different. I only kept reading it to find out what happened to the other characters. Nesta is so angry and mean. I found it hard to like her at all and the romance between her and Cassian was crude. This book was written differently than the first ones and just wasn’t my cup of tea.
I absolutely loved this book. It had the romance, the drama, the character development, and the personality that you hope to find in a good fantasy based story. Worth the read and/or listen!
This was great. I ate it up! Non stop action and what a romance. I love these characters and can’t wait to see what this author has in store for them (and us) next!
I have loved this series more than I would’ve ever believed possible. These books have become so important to me. If I could change anything it would be that I could read stories of this world and these characters all the time. When I started this one Nesta drove me crazy. I thought well this might be my least favorite. I couldn’t have been more wrong and shouldn’t have been surprised. Thank you for writing another amazing story about the greatest characters I’ve ever known!
Loved it. Love all Sarah’s books.
This series started as appropriate for late teens early college age people. As the audience has aged so has the tone of the writing and not always for the better. I found the repetition of the F word unnecessary and disappointing. Also the sex scenes were very adult and unnecessarily graphic. The reason I love young adult books is that this type of graphic writing is not usual. The main story is good but did not need 700 pages to get there. Liked the early books better.
Sarah never disappoints.
This book tapped into some really deep raw feelings that i think many can relate to. Nesta’s journey is our journey. Thanks Sarah for writing such an honest book. It will go down in my history as one of my all time best books ever.
the author apparently cannot seem to go more than two paragraphs without throwing the f-bomb into another rather misrepresented thought on the part of the main characters. as a fan of these books, i am rather disappointed that such degradation of speech would be added just to come across as more edgy. if one is devoted to the characters already, and knows their nature, one would think such profanity would not be necessary. it rather comes off as lazy on the author’s part. ms. maas, you are a forger of stories, and i still love this book, but please endeavor to assume your readers know well enough to understand the characters feelings without the continual use of profanity.
I’ve read others reviews on how this story is so similar to Feyre and Rhys’ but it isn’t. They’re are small ones, because in the beginning Feyre didn’t want to be a Fae either, but Nesta’s story is MORE. We learn more on the acolytes and priestesses, and we get a read inside of Nesta’s head. We finally get to understand why she was so horrid to her youngest sister. We learn sooo much on how Nesta, BECAME Nesta! Maybe it’s because I read all the previous books most recently thanks to a dear friend of mine - I’m talking about you Morgan! - that I’m seeing these differences so clearly. I have two sisters of my own and I know first hand how cruel oldest sisters can be, but we love them anyways. And this really puts their relationship in the story, and not just small glimpses! Did I read all 80 chapters in a matter of two and a half days? Yes - don’t judge. The sex was there and it was wonderful to read, but we get to see more of their emotions (Nesta and Cassian’s) and how their relationship actually is born, not just because of the mate bond, but because they grew to love each other even if Nesta didn’t realize at first. It’s a beautiful story and I cannot wait for the next in the series, if there is one!
I can’t tell if this is truly my favorite book of the series as I have loved these books sooo much! What a great read from beginning to end !!!
By and far the best book of the series. Loved it from start to finish. I am still in aww after having read it so recently.
I have never read a book that spoke to my heart in so many ways. This entire series has brought me on a psychological journey that has utterly changed my perspective on many things. On myself. Nesta’s has been the one I most relate to. Sarah, I believe, achieved success in taking us all on this adventure. You will feel every facet of emotion, sometimes the same as the characters and other times that will find you at odds with them. Sarah J. Mass is a master at weaving plot and character development in ways we rarely see. This is a series that will continue to grow in the hearts and minds of readers, not just for entertainment, but to look and say this... this is humanity in its rawest form. The veil of fantasy is only as thick as your imagination is thin. Embrace this splendor, and tell all your friends that this series should be next on their must read list. Read well darlings xoxo
I wish there were more coming from this series. I haven’t been able to stop reading since the release on feb 16.
I absolutely love Sarah J Mass and her books! I couldn’t set this one down, it was absolutely perfect and amazing and I cannot wait for more!
Wow. I didn’t think it was possible, but sjm proves me wrong every time. I honestly think this is my all time favorite book of hers. I never understood nesta before and I honestly hated her character, but I adore her now. I felt so connected to her character. SJM did such a great job describing depression and the time and effort it takes to better yourself. The lessons she added throughout the book are just wonderful. I think anyone struggling needs to read this. Also... Cassian is.. *chefs kiss*
Sarah J. Maas did it again. This book was definitely worth the wait. Might be my favorite book of hers from now on.
Love everything about this book, beautifully written. Read this book in a day, I just couldn’t put it down. Really can’t wait for the next one❤️❤️❤️
As with all her books, I plowed through this book way too quickly. And am now impatiently waiting for the next.
It was perfect, and well worth the wait!
This book has everything I already love about Prythian, and was able to add even more as well. I hope to see so many more stories from this world!
I didn’t think it possible, but it might be my favorite book in the series. It’s so relatable, heartbreaking, and lovely. It’s why I continue to consume and reread anything by Sarah J Maas over and over again! Now I want a Azriel and Lucien book after the masterpiece of this one.
The masterful way Maas writes pulls you in and doesn’t let you leave. She creates a vibrant world full of complex characters that are thrilling from start to finish. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
