This year the Electric Daisy Carnival has been expanding to several additional cities. Orlando was included among them and the festival was held on on Friday May 27th and Saturday May 28th, 2011 at Tinker Field. Tinker Field is located at 1610 West Church St. in Orlando, Florida.
As a seasoned clubber I have been attending events for over for the last 10 years. Electric Daisy Carnival is definitely one of my top 5 favorite festivals this for this year. This was my second Insomniac Event. My first being Beyond Wonderland in California earlier this year and I would have to say that it was truly amazing. When I noticed that Insomniac was hosting the Electric Daisy Carnival in Orlando I just knew that I had to attend. I was glad definitely glad that I did and I am certainly attending the next Electric Daisy Carnival as well.
In my opinion this Insomnic event was awesome. My favorite performances of day one included Funkagenda, Bunny (of Rabbit in the Moon), Klever, Pressure, and Skrillex, along with Joey Paranoia. There was pouring rain on day one so the festival was closed down for about two hours due to the circumstances. I think they should have kept the music going through the rain if at all possible.
Day two was my absolute favorite part of the weekend. Hot Pink Delorean was insane. I really also enjoyed Morgan Page, Ferry Corsten, Benny Benassi, and Markus Schulz. These were my personal favorites out of all the sets from of day two.
The VIP sections could have been organized a little better, but all in all I had a blast at this years EDC Orlando. The energy of the music coupled by the sick lighting work seemed to just feed off the energy all the people there. I have to give props to the guy who was running lights at the kinetic field stage, and also at the circuit grounds stage one. They were definitely among the sickest lighting set ups I have come across in awhile. I love the fact that they had the water refilling stations there.
I asked around for the buzz on what some people thought of EDC in Orlando this year and the most prominent review in my mind was from an attendee by the name of Adam Gray who told me it was his first electronic dance music festival and felt compelled to include his testimony in my review.
Adam commented, “As a long time music lover and festival-goer when I heard that the Electric Daisy Carnival was coming to Orlando I knew I had to go. I have been attending music festivals since 2004 when I went to my first Bonnaroo and usually know what to expect, but man was I wrong when it came to EDC. First off I have a confession to make, this was my first rave style event and I am not really into Electronic music. Now having said that I can now say EDC blew me away. Between the four stages of music, the carnival rides, and the very unique group of people who attended I was awe struck. The light shows were amazing and the DJ’s insane. I have never fallen in love with a genre of music so quickly. The highlights of the first night in my opinion were definitely Afrojack, Skrillex, and Tiesto along with breathtaking light show and cooling rain Mother Nature brought. Skrillex introduced me to sounds I did not know even existed. As for the second night I was really impressed with Beardyman and Datsik but also enjoyed Benny Benassi. My favorites of night two how ever were Dirtyphonics hands down. Overall I had the time of my life for two days and was hearing Electronic music for days afterwards even though it was quiet. My first EDM experience was absolutely fantastic and I will go to many more events in the future. Insomniac sure knows how to put on a festival.”
